China to become aerospace power by 2030 


China aims to become a global aerospace power by 2030, said Xu Dazhe, director of the China National Space Administration, on Friday. China will complete aerospace projects currently underway by around 2020, including manned space programs, lunar probes, the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System and the Gaofen observation satellite program, Xu said.

President Xi Calls for Cyberspace Security, Technological Breakthroughs

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called for coordinated development of cyberspace security and informatization as well as breakthroughs in core Internet technology. Xi, also head of the central Internet security and informatization leading group, made the remarks while presiding over a symposium on the topic.

China's Xi Adds 'Commander-in-Chief' to His Titles

Chinese President Xi Jinping added a new military leadership post to his already extensive collection of official titles-commander-in-chief of a new joint-battle-command center-given as part of the biggest restructuring of the armed forces since the 1950s. The changes are the latest in an overhaul of the military command structure that Mr. Xi has pushed in the past few months to strengthen his control of the People's Liberation Army, or PLA, and transform it into a modern fighting force.
