China Voice: Closing the "Last-Mile Gap" in Deepening Reform
Chinese leaders did not pass any new proposals at their latest meeting on overall reform, the 21st of its kind, but rather stressed one key word: implementation. The previous 20 meetings of the Central Leading Group for Overall Reform had seen about 100 documents approved, rolling out an unprecedented number of strong reform measures to establish a healthier economy, a more independent judiciary and a more law-based society. Implementing those reforms is now the most pressing job as China strives to sustain solid growth and improve social systems.

China Launches 22nd BeiDou Navigation Satellite
China launched a satellite to support its global navigation and positioning network at 4:11 a.m. Wednesday. The satellite was taken into orbit by a Long March-3A carrier rocket. It is the 22nd satellite in the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS).

China Moves to Contend in Chip Making
China is putting $24 billion toward building a world-class semiconductor industry, exploiting a partnership with a U.S. company for the production of memory chips used in a wide array of electronic devices. XMC, a contract chip maker owned by the Chinese government, will break ground in the city of Wuhan for the first Chinese-owned plant dedicated to producing the most widely used memory chips, an XMC spokesman said.
