China Releases Full Texts of Government Work Report, 5-Year Plan
The "Report on the Work of the Government" and the 13th Five-Year Plan for the country's economic and social development were released in full via Xinhua News Agency on Thursday. The five-year plan outlines the policy framework, priorities and economic and social development goals for 2016-2020, including an innovation-driven development strategy and an average annual growth rate of above 6.5 percent.

China is preparing to launch a Mars probe in 2020, and it is expected to arrive on the red planet in 2021, aerospace expert Ye Peijian has said. "Although we are not the first Asian nation to send a probe to Mars, we want to start at a higher level," said Ye, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

President Xi Calls for Reforms, Innovation in Military Colleges
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called for reforms and innovation in military-affiliated universities and academies in a bid to support the building of stronger armed forces. Xi made the remarks during an inspection tour of the National Defense University (NDU) of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), the country's top military academy.
