President Xi Calls for Increased Efforts on Reform

President Xi Jinping called on Monday for more reform and innovation ahead of the introduction of China's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20). The spirit of reform and innovation must be strengthened and the country's governance system should be modernized, said Xi, who also heads the Central Leading Group for Comprehensively Deepening Reform.

China's First Home-Made Regional Passenger Jet to be Delivered

The Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) will deliver its ARJ21 Xiangfeng, China's first indigenously designed regional jet, to Chengdu Airlines by the end of the year, the Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday. It is expected to fly popular air routes from Chengdu to Beijing and Shanghai, said COMAC and Chengdu Airlines.

China's Tsinghua Unigroup to Invest $12 Billion Via World's Biggest Private Placement

China's Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd plans to invest 80 billion yuan in a new memory chip factory via the world's largest private placement, in the latest move by the state-backed technology conglomerate to bolster its fledgling chip industry. Tsinghua Unigroup, controlled by Tsinghua University in Beijing has spearheaded a deal-making drive over the past year as it attempts to become the world's third-biggest chipmaker.
