Leaders Focus on Growth at Plenum

The Communist Party of China is holding its Central Committee plenum this week to come up with a proposal for the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20). Maintaining the economic growth rate is widely believed to top a list of 10 major tasks in China's new development blueprint. Major goals for the next five years also include promoting innovation, optimizing the economic development method and accelerating reform, People's Daily said on Monday.

Premier Highlights Reforms, Innovation to Promote Growth

It is essential to be innovative when drawing up macroeconomic regulation and reform measures, as they are expected to promote economic growth and industrial upgrading, Premier Li Keqiang said Friday at the Party School of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. Li also highlighted the innovation-driven development strategy, adding that innovation and mass entrepreneurship would inspire creativity while promoting the development of enterprises, and facilitate upgrading in traditional industries and growth in emerging ones.

China to Set Up Third-Generation Nuclear Power Company
