Meetings with Chinese Leader Bring Agreement on Tech Firms

Leaders from Michigan to Beijing attended meetings Tuesday with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the U.S. and signed an agreement aimed at pushing cooperation on the use of clean tech businesses to combat climate change. The meetings with governors from five U.S. states and local Chinese officials came on the first day of Xi's visit to the U.S. that includes a state dinner Friday with President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C.

China's New Carrier Rocket Succeeds in First Trip

China successfully launched a new model of carrier rocket, Long March-6, at 7:01 a.m. Sunday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province. The rocket carried 20 micro-satellites into the space for space tests. The new rocket, fueled by liquid propellant made of liquid oxygen and kerosene, is China's first carrier rocket that uses fuel free of toxicity and pollution, said Gao Xinhui, an official at China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
