 China's largest-ever rocket aims for space station
 
China successfully tested the power system of its Long March 5 carrier rocket on Monday. The test marks the completion of the manufacturing phase for the rocket. After finishing all of its ground tests, the Long March 5 will be shipped to Hainan for its launch scheduled in 2016.

Beidou satellites begin autonomous operation in space
 
After more than 10 days in space, China's nineteenth Beidou navigation satellite is working autonomously and has set up a link with another satellite. Xie Jun, chief designer of the Beidou navigation satellite system, says China has successfully tested the autonomous control technology of the Beidou global navigation satellite constellation, an alternative to U.S.-operated GPS, marking a solid step toward building a system with global coverage.

China summons Western tech firms, revives bank cyber rules 
 
China has resumed work on a set of banking cyber security regulations it suspended earlier this year, people with knowledge of the matter said. At a meeting last week in Beijing, officials from the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) told representatives from several Western technology companies, including Microsoft, IBM, and Cisco Systems, that they would seek opinions over the next month on a new version of the bank procurement rules, one of those present at the meeting said.
