Sino-UK Remote Sensing Satellite Constellation Launched

 

Three one-meter resolution optical Earth observation satellites were successfully launched early Saturday, according to operator Twenty First Century Aerospace Technology Co. Ltd. (21AT). The satellites were developed by UK-headquartered Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL), which is the world's leading small satellite company and part of the Airbus Group. The Chinese company will manage the satellites' operation, including observation and control, and data reception and production, as well as related services.

Remote-Sensing Satellite Now Operational

 

A satellite jointly developed by the China Academy of Space Technology and Brazil's National Institute for Space Research became fully operational on Tuesday. The satellite will have its application promoted among developing countries, said a senior space program official.

Tsinghua Unigroup Offers to Buy Micron Technology for US$23bn

 

State-backed Chinese private equity firm Tsinghua Unigroup Ltd offered to buy U.S. memory chipmaker Micron Technology Inc. for $23 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter. If it goes ahead, the deal would be the biggest Chinese takeover of a U.S. company. Micron and Tsinghua Unigroup were not immediately available to comment on the report.
