China launched its orbiter by a Long March-3C rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center to test spacecraft technology on October 24. The mission includes collecting data and validate reentry technology to prepare for anticipated moon landing by Chang'e-5 in 2017. Remarkably, China conducted the test involving a half-orbit around the moon at a height of 380,000 km before having the spacecraft return for the first time.
