Comac C919 Commercial Jet Enters Assembly Phase

China's C919 narrow-body commercial airliner has taken another step toward completion after the forward fuselage of the plane was delivered for assembly on Sunday. Comac, the Chinese state-owned aerospace manufacturer Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, reportedly received the forward fuselage, manufactured by the Hongdu Aviation Industry Group of the China Aviation Industry Corporation II consortium, in Shanghai on Aug. 24.

Chinese OS Expected to Debut in October

After concerns about U.S. surveillance and a monopoly probe of Microsoft, there is some good news for China's homegrown operating system (OS): a desktop version may be ready in October. Ni Guangnan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering told the People's Post and Telecommunications News that the OS will be first seen on desktop devices and later expanded to smartphones and other mobile devices.
