SITC's summer training course at UC San Diego is open to advanced graduate students, junior faculty, and early- to mid-career analysts and provides a comprehensive overview of the development,  linkages, and roles  that science, technology, and innovation play in China's national security. The workshop examines the relationship between national security, technology, innovation, and China's rise as a world power.

China Focus: China Defense Budget to Increase 12.2. Percent in 2014

 

China plans to raise its defense budget by 12.2 percent to 808.2 billion yuan (about 132 billion U.S. dollars) in 2014, according to a draft budget report submitted to the national legislature for review on Wednesday. This is the highest growth rate in China's defense budget since 2011.

Preparation for the 2017 launch of China's lunar probe Chang'e-5 is going as planned, the country's leading space scientist Ye Peijian told Xinhua on Saturday.
