CSIS offers full and part-time internships in the fall, spring and summer for undergraduates, advanced students, and recent graduates who are interested in gaining practical experience in public policy. Interns participate in a variety of activities that support individual programs, including research, writing, and project development.

Woodrow Wilson Center Research Assistant Internships

The Center offers a wide range of internship opportunities to current, recent, or returning college students. Availability of positions generally corresponds to the beginning of the fall, spring and summer terms. Most internships are unpaid. The Woodrow Wilson Center has two different internship programs with separate applications and deadlines. Many interns are research assistants for our visiting scholars, contributing directly to research on a wide range of projects. Other interns work in staff and program offices. Andrew V. White and Florence Wales White Fellowship
UC Humanities Research Institute

The Andrew Vincent White and Florence Wales White Scholarship will be awarded to one or more regularly enrolled full-time UC graduate students working in appropriate fields. To be eligible, candidates must be current full-time UC graduate students whose research involves the humanities and medicine or theoretical social sciences and medicine; advanced to candidacy by June 30, and enrolled at their home campus during the scholarship period. Preference is given to students who are more advanced in their dissertation research and writing. The scholarship may be used for a mix of fees, living expenses, and research expenses for one academic year. The student will be based at his or her home campus.

UC San Diego Academic Senate Research Support

Members of the Academic Senate in all fields are eligible to apply for individual grants. Individuals who are not members of the Academic Senate but are established investigators may seek support through joint applications with members of the Senate, or the recommendation from the Department Chair for an exception supporting the applicant's request and advising the Subcommittee of his/her status in the department. Priority is generally given to junior and new faculty with no extramural support, and Academic Senate members will be given priority over non-Senate members. Second applications in the same fiscal year will receive low priority. Research grants funded by the Subcommittee generally do not exceed $15,000.

American Political Science Association Congressional Fellowship Program for Federal and Foreign Affairs Executives
Deadline: March 31, 2014
The purpose of this fellowship is to give senior-level federal executives an opportunity to learn more about Congress and the legislative process through direct participation. Fellows receive office assignments as full-time legislative aides in the House of Representatives and/or Senate. Before joining the rest of the fellows for the general orientation, Foreign Affairs Fellows attend an intensive eight-week course, "Congress and Foreign Policy," at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in Washington.
