Greetings! ,
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
This past Weekend, Vivien & Roger accompanied by City of Fairway Mayor Jerry Wiley and First Lady of Fairway Grisel Wiley flew to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for The 29th Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival. Rainy Day Books provided the Celebrity Wine & Food Authors: Eric Asimov for Wine and Christy Jordan for Food. Eric Asimov, The New York Times Wine Critic was planning to Present his New Book How to Love Wine: A Memoir and Manifesto when suddenly he became seriously ill with a respiratory infection and had to be immediately hospitalized. Eric is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Martial Arts and he is one tough guy, yet as healthy as he is and the fact that he rarely has a sniffle, he had to remain in the hospital in New York City with his wife Deborah Hofmann, vigilantly by his side. Deborah is the Senior Editor of The New York Times Best Seller Lists.
Christy Jordan is the Author of Come Home to Supper: Over 200 Satisfying Casseroles, Skillets, and Sides (Desserts, Too!) to Feed Your Family with Love.
Roger & Vivien called their good Hometown friend Doug Frost, one of a few people in the World with the dual Titles of Master Sommelier & Master of Wine. Doug reached out across America for a suitable expert to stand in for Eric. Doug asked his good friend Wayne Belding, past Chairman of The Court of Master Sommeliers to step up and Wayne traveled from his Home in Boulder, Colorado to give 3 phenomenal Presentations on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Wayne Belding is the Author of Diving Into Wine: Your Springboard to Wine Discovery.
Tami Bream, Festival Chair Person & President of The 29th Hilton Head Island Wine & Food Festival and Harry Morales, her Husband & Partner, were pleased and proud to introduce Wayne, Christy, Vivien & Roger to the guests at the VIP indoor & outdoor Events. Harry Morales and Grisel Wiley are brother and sister. Tami Bream & Harry Morales live in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Eric is out of the hospital now and recovering comfortably at home with Deborah. It's a happy wrap-up to this amazing story!

Missing You
Harlan Coben
Dutton Adult
It's a profile, like all the others on the online dating site. But as NYPD Detective Kat Donovan focuses on the accompanying picture, she feels her whole world explode, as emotions she's ignored for decades come crashing down on her. Staring back at her is her ex-fianc Jeff, the man who shattered her heart-and who she hasn't seen in 18 years. Kat feels a spark, wondering if this might be the moment when past tragedies recede and a new world opens up to her. But when she reaches out to the man in the profile, her reawakened hope quickly darkens into suspicion and then terror as an unspeakable conspiracy comes to light, in which monsters prey upon the most vulnerable. As the body count mounts and Kat's hope for a second chance with Jeff grows more and more elusive, she is consumed by an investigation that challenges her feelings about everyone she ever loved-her former fianc, her mother, and even her father, whose cruel murder so long ago has never been fully explained. With lives on the line, including her own, Kat must venture deeper into the darkness than she ever has before, and discover if she has the strength to survive what she finds there.

You Should Have Known
Jean Hanff Korelitz
Grand Central Publishing
Grace Reinhart Sachs is living the only life she ever wanted for herself. Devoted to her husband, a pediatric oncologist at a major cancer hospital, their young son Henry, and the patients she sees in her therapy practice, her days are full of familiar things: she lives in the very New York apartment in which she was raised, and sends Henry to the school she herself once attended. Dismayed by the ways in which women delude themselves, Grace is also the author of a book You Should Have Known, in which she cautions women to really hear what men are trying to tell them. But weeks before the book is published a chasm opens in her own life: a violent death, a missing husband, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only an ongoing chain of terrible revelations. Left behind in the wake of a spreading and very public disaster, and horrified by the ways in which she has failed to heed her own advice, Grace must dismantle one life and create another for her child and herself.

Cambridge
Susanna Kaysen
Knopf
"It was probably because I was so often taken away from Cambridge when I was young that I loved it as much as I did . . ." So begins this novel-from-life by the best-selling author of Girl, Interrupted, an exploration of memory and nostalgia set in the 1950s among the academics and artists of Cambridge, Massachusetts. London, Florence, Athens: Susanna, the precocious narrator of Cambridge, would rather be home than in any of these places. Uprooted from the streets around Harvard Square, she feels lost and excluded in all the locations to which her father's career takes the family. She comes home with relief-but soon enough wonders if outsiderness may be her permanent condition. Written with a sharp eye for the pretensions-and charms-of the intellectual classes, Cambridge captures the mores of an era now past, the ordinary lives of extraordinary people in a singular part of America, and the delights, fears, and longings of childhood.

The Cairo Affair
Olen Steinhauer
Minotaur Books
Sophie Kohl is living her worst nightmare. Minutes after she confesses to her husband, a mid-level diplomat at the American embassy in Hungary, that she had an affair while they were in Cairo, he is shot in the head and killed. Stan Bertolli, a Cairo-based CIA agent, has fielded his share of midnight calls. But his heart skips a beat when he hears the voice of the only woman he ever truly loved, calling to ask why her husband has been assassinated. Omar Halawi has worked in Egyptian intelligence for years, and he knows how to play the game. Foreign agents pass him occasional information, he returns the favor, and everyone's happy. But the murder of a diplomat in Hungary has ripples all the way to Cairo, and Omar must follow the fall-out wherever it leads. American analyst Jibril Aziz knows more about Stumbler, a covert operation rejected by the CIA, than anyone. So when it appears someone else has obtained a copy of the blueprints, Jibril alone knows the danger it represents. As these players converge in Cairo in The Cairo Affair, Olen Steinhauer's masterful manipulations slowly unveil a portrait of a marriage, a jigsaw puzzle of loyalty and betrayal, against a dangerous world of political games where allegiances are never clear and outcomes are never guaranteed.

The Silver Lining: A Supportive and Insightful Guide to Breast Cancer
Hollye Jacobs, Elizabeth Messina
Atria Books
As a healthy, happy thirty-nine-year-old mother with no family history of breast cancer, being diagnosed with the disease rocked Hollye Jacobs's world. Having worked as a nurse, social worker, and child development specialist for fifteen years, she suddenly found herself in the position of moving into the hospital bed. She was trained as a clinician to heal. In her role as patient, the healing process became personal. Exquisitely illustrated with full-color photographs by Hollye's close friend, award-winning photographer Elizabeth Messina, "The Silver Lining" is both Hollye's memoir and a practical, supportive resource for anyone whose life has been touched by breast cancer. In the first section of each chapter, she describes with humor and wisdom her personal experience and gives details about her diagnosis, treatment, side effects, and recovery. The second section of each chapter is told from Hollye's point of view as a medical expert. In addition to providing a glossary of important terms and resources, she addresses the physical and emotional aspects of treatment, highlights what patients can expect, and provides action steps, including: What to do when facing a diagnosis How to find the best and most supportive medical team What questions to ask What to expect at medical tests How to talk with and support children How to relieve or avoid side effects How to be a supportive friend or family member How to find Silver Linings Looking for and finding Silver Linings buoyed Hollye from the time of her diagnosis throughout her double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and recovery. They gave her the balance and perspective to get her through the worst days, and they compose the soul of the book. The Silver Lining of Hollye's illness is that she can now use the knowledge gleaned from her experience to try to make it better for those who have to follow her down this difficult path. This is why she is sharing her story. Hollye is the experienced girlfriend who wants to help shed some light in the darkness, provide guidance through the confusion, and hold your hand every step of the way. At once comforting and instructive, realistic and inspiring, "The Silver Lining" is a visually beautiful, poignant must-read for everyone who has been touched by cancer.

Making Sense of the Bible: Rediscovering the Power of Scripture Today
Adam Hamilton
HarperOne
In Making Sense of the Bible, Adam Hamilton invites us into an honest conversation about the Bible. The book begins with foundational questions such as, How and when was the Bible written? Who decided which books made it into the scriptures and why? How literally must we read it? And, Is the Bible ever wrong? From there, Hamilton considers the real questions people frequently ask that continue to divide Christians and denominations alike, including: Were Adam and Eve real people? Why is God so violent in the Old Testament? Why would Paul command women to "keep silent in the church"? Is Jesus the only way to salvation? Is the Book of Revelation a guide to the End Times? In approachable and inviting language, Hamilton addresses these often misunderstood biblical themes leading readers to a deeper appreciation of the Bible so that we might hear God speak through it and find its words to be life-changing and life-giving.

Everything I Ever Needed to Know About _____* I Learned from Monty Python: *History, Art, Poetry, Communism, Philosophy...
Brian Cogan, Ph.D., Jeff Massey, Ph.D.
Thomas Dunne Books
Throughout their five seasons on British television (and well into the troop's movie sequels and assorted solo projects), Monty Python became a worldwide symbol not only for taking serious subjects and making them silly, but also for treating silly subjects seriously. Monty Python provided a treasure trove of erudite "in" jokes, offering sly allusions to subjects as diverse as T.S. Elliot's "Murder in the Cathedral" (as part of a commercial for a weight loss product) and how to conjugate Latin properly (as explained by a Roman centurion to a Jewish zealot painting anti-Roman graffiti on a wall). It was this combination of the uniquely highbrow but silly humor that inspired countless followers (Saturday Night Live, to name one). This hilarious and helpful guide puts Python's myriad references into context for the legion of fans, scholars, and pop culture aficionados that still strive to "get" Monty Python.
