Easter Greetings!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Marianist Family,

It is often said that timing in everything. There's a good time and there's a not so good time for events, decisions, facing challenges or invitations in life. Indeed, timing is everything. I dare to dwell on the positive and publicly praise that timing is very good, as I said "Yes!" to renewing a commitment to things Marianists, which have for many years, shaped who I am.

Thrilled to be the MLNNA Communications Director. I will be responsible for the newsletter and other means to better share our message with all of you.

It is also a privilege for me to share that I am working in the Marianist Mission as their Hispanic market manager, developing new ways to minister to the greater Hispanic Catholic community. It is a joy and a gift to speak and read Spanish on a daily basis and use my cultural background as part of my ministry.

Many of you know I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Dayton after enrolling at the University of Dayton to be an English major. Being at UD was the best gift my dad could have ever given me, as it was there where I was formed as a Marianist and as a professional in higher education enrollment management and fundraising. When I am not doing "all things Marianist" I advise high school students on their college admission and financial aid process as an independent college admission consultant. Love, love everything I do.

I am the proud mom of a soon-to-be 13 yr old son, who is my anchor and reason for being.  I thank God everyday for blessing me with being his mother.

During this season of Easter joy, may you all be blessed with love, health and happiness.

God bless,
Jess

MLNNA Update

We're very excited to add two new members to the MLNNA Team.  As you just read above, Jessica Gonzalez is our new Communications director.

LeeAnn Meyer has also joined our team as Secretary.  She is a Lay Marianist and lives in Macomb Illinois with her husband Brandon, their son Vincent (3 months), and their Siberian Husky, Bella.

LeeAnn is an Asst. Director of Admissions at Western Illinois University.  She received her Masters in Higher Education from Loyola in Chicago after graduating in 2010 from the University of Dayton.  Her organizational gifts and talents will be a wonderful contribution to this important role.

Community Highlight

Anawim Community of Cincinnati

After many years of serving as Co-Leader of the Anawim Community in Cincinnati, Ken Palisin has stepped down. He will be replaced by Phil Lachmann who accepted the call of the community this Holy Week. The community gathered for the Holy Thursday service at St. Francis deSales Parish. We continued the Eucharistic celebration by drinking more wine and breaking bread (well, donuts and crackers) after the formal service.

New Dayton Community to Make Commitment on April 18
Fifteen young adults will have their Marianist Lay Commitment ceremony on April 18th at University of Dayton.  We are grateful for AJ and Joan Wagner who have walked with them as they discerned their call.  Please offer a prayer of thanksgiving and support for them on the 18th.

Day of Recollection

The Visitation Marianist State Community invites you to a day of recollection: Prophetic Voices: Hearing, Discussing, Responding with Sr. Simone Campbell, SSS on April 18, 2015 in Aston, PA.  For more information contact Mary Andrews 919-593-0776 or [email protected]
