Be A Part of the Conversation!

We are two weeks away from the 2014 Marianist Assembly and there is still time to register!

As there are lay Marianists beyond those attending the Asssembly, we wanted to give you a glimpse of some of the conversations that will be taking place. We will be looking at lay life, in general. And then we will be looking at it through a Marianist lens. We will be discussing a new strategic plan for MLNNA, guiding the future of the lay branch of the Marianists in the United States. And we will discuss the importance of mission, and how the world can be different because of our presence in it.

These conversations will be framed by thoughts that come out of the following writings:

The Marianist Movement

Toward a Marianist Future

Faith of the Heart in the Heart of the World

Whose Wine is It?

These writing are not new. And they are not exhaustive in terms of Marianist thought on the current signs of the times. Yet they continue to challenge us to a deeper sense of mission and the increased role of the laity, not just in the church but in the Marianist Family.

Please take time to read them and discuss them in your communities. Following the assembly, we hope to continue the assembly's momentum as we enter a new chapter in the life of Marianist laity.

Join us for the journey!

Peace,

Matt Dunn

Strategic Plan Charts Our Future

Join in Living the Mission

As mentioned in the editorial above, MLNNA has unveiled two new documents to set the stage for the future of the lay branch of the Marianist Family here in the United States.

These documents are not just a blueprint for leaders of the Marianist Lay Network. They are a charge to all Marianist laity - collectively known as the lay network. The strategic plan calls us to mission and invites us to deepen our identity and commitment as Marianist laity. It is aligned with goals of the International Organization of Marianist Lay Communities and has the support of our brothers and sisters of the US provinces of the Society of Mary and the Daughters of Mary Immaculate. The new leadership model, based on Chaminade's system of Three Offices, defines more clearly the roles of Marianist lay leadership within the Marianist Family here in the United States. Please take a look at both! They will be shared and discussed at the Assembly in July and there will certainly be more to come following the Assembly.

Planning Ahead for Future Leadership

Following the Assembly, MLNNA will be seeking nominations for the leadership council. If you are interested, or know of someone who might be interested in strengthening, advancing, and growing the lay branch of the Marianist Family, watch for more details about the various roles and responsibilities and the nomination process. For initial details, see the "leadership model" mentioned above.
