Thank You!

Dear Friends,

As we come to the end of the year, it is fitting to look back with gratitude on the generosity of so many who make the work of the Marianist Lay Network of North America possible.

In response to our most recent appeal, 27 individuals have generously contributed nearly $3,000. And, since January 2012, the MLNNA has been blessed with the of support six communities, representing approximately 87 other individuals for an additional $5,880 - and some of you contribute monthly. Heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who so selflessly contributed.

Your support helps us maintain up-to-date records on all Marianist laity and Marianist Lay Communities across the continent. It also helps us stay connected via this newsletter and the other electronic newsletters which you receive from various Marianist entities. This financial support also keeps us connected to the larger Marianist family at home and around the world, providing support for formation opportunities such as the Marianist Lay Formation Initiative, the Marianist Social Justice Collaborative, as well as the MLNNA's sponsorship of continental assemblies (the next being July 2013 in Philadelphia; more information forthcoming) where lay Marianists come together for formation, fellowship, and business.

It's not too late to contribute and we are waiting to hear from you. Please send your contributions and membership updates to:

Please be assured of our prayerful best wishes for you and your communities both at Christmas and throughout the New Year.

Gratefully,

The Leadership of the MLNNA

Merry Christmas and Happy Easter!

Lay Community Chooses New Name

At their autumn retreat at the Bergamo Retreat Center in Dayton, the Marianist State Community chose a new name: "Visitation Marianist State Community". The community, which was founded forty-six years ago, annually renews a vow of service to the Marianist Family which is reflective of our Founders vision of the State of Religious Living in the World. After a period of prayerful community discernment, they chose the name, "Visitation", which resonates more with their identity and distinguishes them from other State communities. Elements of the Visitation that reverberate in their lives today include paying attention to internal promptings of the Spirit, bearing the Good News in mission to others, welcoming visits joyfully, providing hospitality, bridging generations, honoring and connecting with family, forming community, giving service, mentoring younger ones, and lifting up the lowly in justice. By living these elements, the community echoes Mary's "yes" and joins in her mission of bearing Jesus wherever called.
