Greetings Art Lovers:

This weekend the NY State Special Winter Olympic Winter Games begins - to celebrate this great achievement for Dutchess County, Arts Mid-Hudson has an exhibit of artworks depicting the exciting events coming up by participants from the ARC of Dutchess, Abilities First, Devereux, Taconic Resources, The Anderson Center for Autism, and Madison Cahill. Stop by the Arts Mid-Hudson gallery Monday-Friday, 9:30 am - 5:30 p.m. and enjoy the visionary artworks.

What's going on in the area to cure cabin-fever? Tonight (Thursday) it's not too late to head over to WAAM for the Potluck Slideshow, an evening of community, food, and art open to all. Artists' images will be presented in a relaxed atmosphere conducive to open dialogue, accompanied by a potluck dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m.

In Poughkeepsie, it's Queen City Arts Weekend, always the third weekend of the month. Starting off on Friday, its The Bird Show, an eclectic exhibit of bird themed art: local and exotic, paintings, photos and sculpture by area artists opening with a reception at the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center,  6:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday is Art Centro's Community Clay Day - 1-3:00 p.m. - meet other creative minded folk and make something cool! Sunday, rounding off Queen City Arts Weekend is the 100 for 100 event for art collectors, Barrett Art Center's annual event at the Locust Grove Estate. Advance tickets (recommended) include admission for two and a work of art!

Arts Mid-Hudson is excited to announce a partnership with the Poughkeepsie Community Wealth Building Summit, which will take place on April 22nd at Vassar College. The Poughkeepsie Community Wealth Building Summit will bring together anchor institutions (educational, medical and government) and local organizations to catalyze collaborative efforts to reach a shared vision for the City of Poughkeepsie.

The event will facilitate discussion through breakout sessions, workshops, and panels featuring national and regional experts who have done notable work to develop sustainable economies in their respective cities through collaborative efforts. ASK Presents "WITTENBERG" by David Davalos : A Performance Reading

Imagine a conversation with Martin Luther, Dr. Faustus and Hamlet at Wittenberg, the University where Hamlet studied, the very place Martin Luther announced his stand against the Roman Catholic Church. Hamlet is torn between philosophy of Dr. Faustus and the beliefs of Martin Luther. Each argues his case to Hamlet, who, true to form, is unable to make a decision. There is no need to imagine - David Davalos, author of this witty, laugh-filled piece has done it for you.

Folk Guild Coffeehouse Series to Feature Never Too Late

Don and Maureen Black and Rob Balogh-Robinson first played together in public in January 2013, at the Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild, under the name "Never Too Late".  Since then they have played together in a variety of places, most notably in the "Teachers"-themed John Street Jam and in a Lou Reed tribute.  They enjoy playing humorous songs and, most especially, songs written by local artists.

TRINITY PLAYERS PRESENTS "YOU'VE GOT HATE MAIL" AT ARTS MID-HUDSON

This reader's theatre production takes a hysterical look at the world on on-line hook-ups and break-ups. In You've Got Hate Mail, love "bytes" when an extra-marital affair goes horribly wrong, thanks to a juicy e-mail sent to the wrong mailbox. The story is told entirely in e-mails from laptop computers, although the play still manages to have an unforgettable chase scene fueled by cell phones and PDAs

Soando live at the falcon

The hot Latin sounds of Soando have earned them the reputation as the Hudson Valley's premier Latin band. This spicy blend of music and musicians have performed in clubs, at private functions, community festivals, benefit concerts, on radio and television, as well as the Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC, but the band is at home wherever a dance floor can be cleared. Fueled by a fiery rhythm section and high-octane horns, Soando plays a wide variety of Latin styles from Plena and Son to Salsa and Merengue!
