We are proud to shine a light on the artists and arts supporters that create the lively art scene we all enjoy in this region. The nominations for the Ulster County Executive's Arts Awards are open now - awards are selected from nominations from the public and the festive event is on June 7th.
Arts Mid-Hudson is looking forward to the art exhibit celebrating the New York State Special Olympics Winter Games opening this Saturday featuring participants from Abilities First, Anderson Center for Autism, Devereux Center, The Arc of Dutchess, Taconic Resources and Madison Cahill. Join us for the opening 5:00-7:00 p.m. and see how we can think differently about our abilities. It's the weekend and we'd like to offer some suggestions - there are tickets available for Half Moon Theatre's Cabaret featuring Jenifer Kruskamp including a three-course dinner at the Culinary Institute! Friday and Saturday night - don't miss this amazing and sumptuous performance.
Also opening this Friday is You Can't Take It With You at the CENTER for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck - through February 21. This comedy by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman is purported to be one of the most popular and successful plays of modern times.
It's Beacon Second Saturday! Head to Main Street and experience openings at RiverWinds Gallery , Matteawan Gallery, and see Global Warning, Michael X. Rose's fantastical paintings at BAU Gallery, among others. A special dance is on at the Howland Cultural Center - check the webpage for Beacon events for times and locations.
How about a Saturday morning pre-lunch performance of Hamlet at the Moviehouse in Millerton?

WHIMSY & GESTURE
This Trio Exhibit with Christopher Albert (painting), Dick Crenson (wirework) & Travis Jeffrey (collage) will be on display at the Albert Shahinian Fine Art gallery. Albert will show a variety of "non-objective"paintings, Crenson will feature a number of his wire doodles and Jeffrey will display his collages that are derived from found materials.

Gallery Opening: Norman Turner
