Greetings Art Lovers:
During this last week of 2015 we are excited about the New Year! Like the Roman God Janus, we look forward and backward at the transition of the year. All of us at Arts Mid-Hudson appreciate your involvement, whether it is reading this newsletter or attending an arts or cultural event. We operate in this community because you participate and for that we are grateful. Thank you to all who have contributed to our year-end giving campaign - if you haven't had a chance to send in a gift, we have a secure online system, or you can call - I'll be in the office on Thursday, December 24th and would enjoy the phone calls: 845-454-3222.
Do you know that Santa arrives in Woodstock every year on Christmas Eve and greets hundreds gathered at the Village Square? The big secret every year is how he will arrive, since each year it's different. Past years have been by a camel, a race car - who wants to guess what it will be this time? Great fun for all - gather your family and friends and arrive early (around 5:00 p.m.) so you can park and wait to see how Santa arrives this year.
This weekend, Staatsburgh is open 12/26 - 12/31 for tours - visit the decorated mansion and for kids, there are Mouse House Craft Workshops on the 29th and 30th at 2:30 p.m. - see webpage for details.
Saturday, at Olana, Frederic Edwin Church's studio and home above the Hudson River features Jingle Jangle: A Winter Celebration - with activities at the Wagon House Education Center and the the main house will be open for guided tours from 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Looking ahead of this weekend, on Tuesday, December 29th hear two gifted musicians, Brad Mehldau and Chris Thile, perform at The Falcon - this show might sell out, but you can call and reserve your place.
Save the Date: January 8: The Music Man arrives at the CENTER for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck January 9: Gallery opening for Asian Inspiration at Arts Mid-Hudson
Best wishes for an art-filled week!
