We have been touched by the response to our annual year-end giving request. A grateful thank you to all who have responded, your donation helps fund our work to do this newsletter, assist all-volunteer groups to run festivals, assist with marketing, management, local art exhibitions, and expand the arts in our public schools. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey.
This weekend is the start of many lovely holiday events that are filled with arts and culture. Friday night in Poughkeepsie enjoy the 22nd annual Celebration of Lights Parade and Fireworks - gather on Main Street at 6:30pm and see the parade - proceed to the evening's first holiday tree lighting on Main, near Market Street.
If you hail closer to Kingston, Friday night is the Annual Snowflake Festival, 5:00 p.m.- 8:30 pm. in the Historic Stockade area of North Front Street and Wall Street. While you are in the neighborhood, check out the openings at many of Kingston's art places. Saturday in Rhinebeck is the annual Sinterklaas Day - check out the Poughkeepsie Journal article with details.
For the traditionalists, weekends through the end of the year head over to Wilderstein and see the work of florists and designers who have transformed the Wilderstein mansion into a magical holiday spectacular. If you make reservations soon, the Yuletide Tea is this Saturday, December 5 at 1pm. For more information and reservations: 845.876.4818. Over 60 artists have delivered handmade arts and crafts for holiday gifts at Dutchess Handmade - come by and enjoy a pleasant shopping experience, and know that your dollars stay in our community supporting artists that make their homes here. Member Mondays are a great way to score a 10% discount!
The 25th Annual Unison Crafts Fair happens this weekend - 10:00 am - 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at New Paltz Middle School, 2 South Manheim Boulevard, New Paltz.
In Phoenicia on Saturday night, Flying Cat Music presents a special performance of "The Longest Winter: A Christmas Concert and Singalong" beginning at 8:00 p.m. at the Empire State Railway Museum, 70 Lower High Street, Phoenicia.
If you haven't seen the exhibit, Jervis McEntee: Painter-Poet of the Hudson River School at the Dorsky Museum, this Sunday is a great opportunity to see the work and enjoy the First Sunday Free Gallery Tour with Guest Educator Kevin Cook at 2:00 p.m. Call for community volunteers: Arts Mid-Hudson is strongly committed to creating a diverse and welcoming environment for Grant Review Panels. In a continuing effort to reflect the communities we serve, we invite you to recommend panelists to serve in reviewing grants across Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. We welcome community members of diverse artistic, administrative and cultural backgrounds. Our next panel meetings will be in late January. Individuals may also nominate themselves. Stories and Statues: G.A. Mudge at merritt bookstore
Mudge is a photographer and author who has an intimate knowledge of many statues related to children's authors and stories found in NYC's Central Park. "THE NUTCRACKER" presented by DUTCHESS DANCE THEATRE
Enjoy the full length holiday classic ballet in two acts, based on E.T.A. Hoffman's 1816 tale of "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King". The performances will take place in the Bove Theatre at Roy C. Ketcham High School. Isabel Wu,the "Sugar Plum Fairy" received the 2014 Dutchess County Executive Arts Award in the Student with Exceptional Promise in the Arts category.

Sinterklaas!
The Sinterklaas Festivities draw on the Hudson Valley's Dutch heritage, but with some modern day twists. Children are the focus - becoming kings and queens for the day, turning the switches of the original story into royal scepters. This event was partially funded by AMH.
