Greetings Art Lovers:

Thanksgiving is one week away, and we are already dreaming of time spent with family and friends, reflecting on giving thanks for the goodness in our lives. Arts Mid-Hudson certainly has much to be thankful for, from the artists and arts organizations that we work with during the year, our wonderful volunteers that make our load lighter, and our members and underwriters that have made a financial commitment to the arts. All of us, from our staff to our board, are truly thankful.

The weekend is coming up with much to be thankful for as well - so many arts and cultural events to choose from beginning tonight - Climate Change Theatre Action Theatre Without Borders - a free reading/writing group event around climate change (Thursday, November 19) at 7:00 p.m. Half Moon Black Box - Oakwood Commons.

In Poughkeepsie, it's Queen City Arts Weekend, beginning on Friday night during Community Clay Night at Art Centro, where you can play with clay after work (don't miss the Northeast Ceramic Sculpture exhibit in the front gallery). On Saturday head over to the Adriance Library noon-2:00 p.m. when Poet Gold leads "No Dust Poetry Workshop," (register at Poklib.org) followed by PokLit Literary reading at Mid-Hudson Heritage Center (2-4:00 p.m.) featuring young adult authors Andrea Pyros and Amy Axelrod who read and discuss their books.

Wait Until Dark opens Friday at the CENTER for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck. Frederick Knott's suspense-thriller concerning three con-men who target a blind woman in New York City and her fight to survive - runs through November 29th.

This Friday night bluegrass aficionados are in for a "a high energy, high mountain bluegrass explosion" when Flying Cat Music presents Jeff Scroggins and Colorado in a special concert at the Empire State Railway Museum 70 Lower High Street, Phoenicia. The doors open at 7:00 p.m. with the show beginning promptly at 7:30. Admission is $18 or $15 with RSVP to flyingcatmusic@gmail.com or by calling 845-688-9453.

Rhinebeck Chamber Music presents the Brooklyn Rider String Quartet on Sunday, November 22. Hailed as "the future of chamber music" (Strings), the innovative quartet presents performances that draw rave reviews from the classical world and rock critics alike - 3:00 p.m.

Who won the Millbrook Vineyards & Winery Art in the Loft wine label competition? The voting was fast and furious, with a total of over 4,000 votes for the artworks. The first place winner went to Judy BM Winter for her photograph, Long Dock Park Sunset, second place to Andrew Halpern's Sepia Winter, and third place went to Liz Okon for her photograph, Wing's Castle. Congratulations to all the artists that participated this year and we look forward to next year's Art in the Loft season.
