Greetings Art Lovers:
Bravo, brava! A big round of applause for all of you who supported the Dutchess County Executive's Arts Awards last night - we were touched with our community's belief and support for the arts. Gracious thanks to our generous sponsors at MidHudson Regional Hospital, Hudson Valley Magazine, Poughkeepsie Journal, and our board chair, Grace Angela Henry. If you were not able to attend the festivities, pictures will be featured on our webpage soon. Attendees last night were thrilled to hear Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinero announcing a new partnership with Arts Mid-Hudson to establish a Dutchess County Poet Laureate Program. Details on this exciting new initiative will be available next week in this newsletter, including how to nominate a poet, or if you are a poet, nominate yourself.

This weekend as we drive around the Mid-Hudson area appreciating the changing leaves, there are several open studios planned. Out in Gardiner the Gardiner Open Studio Tour (GOST) features 22 artists working in photography, painting, sculpting, ceramics and clockmaking. Check out their handy studio map and enjoy the drive. Also planned is the Open Studio Tour in Orange County, details below.

This is the final weekend to catch Sunrise at Campobello out at the Center for Performing Arts in Rhnebeck - Dore Schary's Tony Award winning play depicts Franklin Roosevelt's bout with polio in 1921 and how his family, especially his wife Eleanor, cope with his illness.

It's Beacon Second Saturday - come out and start your tour at Dia:Beacon's Community Free Day, and saunter up and down Main Street and enjoy numerous openings at galleries.

Let's save the date:
October 16-25: Cocoon Theatre Beckett Festival
October 17, 18, 24, 25:  ArtEast Open Studio Tour
October 17: Kaatsbaan presents Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance

For those seeking funding for their arts projects, or thinking about applying for funding, check out our workshops that provide tips on how to present your best proposal.

Best wishes for an art-filled week!
