Greetings Art Lovers:
The 29th Annual Dutchess County Executive's Arts Awards, on October 7 are less than one month away! This is also our major fundraiser for the year - the dollars you spend on tickets and auction items funds our work in Dutchess County. So feel free to bring a friend or two to the awards, pick up some great auction items, and feel good about supporting your local arts! Check the webpage for awardees, tickets, and a sneak peak of our fabulous auction! Saturday Arts Mid-Hudson is proud to present two events. From 1:30-3:00 p.m., join us for Kimono Kitsuke: The Art of Wearing Kimono, an interactive program where youth and adult guests can try on kimono while learning the proper ways to wrap and tie them. Then come back for the opening of "I, Too Sing Shakespeare," featuring Judy Sigunick's Shakespeare-inspired sculptural pieces from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and then plan on joining us for other Shakespeare-inspired events through October.
Tonight ( Thursday, September 10) join Half Moon Theatre for a free reading of Senescence, a new play by Howard Meyer. 7:00 p.m. at the Half Moon Theatre's Black Box Theatre, 2515 South Road (Rt. 9), Oakwood Commons, Poughkeepsie.
On Sunday, we recommend heading out to Pawling to see the opening of the 5th Annual Meeting Past exhibit at the Akin Free Library. This exhibit features over 90 regional artists' work inserted into the Akin Library collections, including the Historical Society and Natural History - opening reception includes music by Jazzmen. 1-5 p.m.Located at 38 Old Quaker Hill Road, Pawling. If theatre is your passion, The CENTER for Performing Arts in Rhinebeck presents Rogers and Hammerstein's Carousel, including all the beloved songs, "If I Loved You," "June is Bustin' Out All Over," and "You'll Never Walk Alone." The production runs through September 20 - get your tickets!
