Greetings Art Lovers:
With fall right around the corner, we are already anticipating the 29th Annual Dutchess County Executive's Arts Awards, October 7 at Villa Borghese. This is also our major fundraiser for the year - the dollars you spend on tickets and auction items funds our work in Dutchess County. So feel free to bring a friend or two to the awards, pick up some great auction items, and feel good about supporting your local arts! Check the webpage for awardees, tickets, and a sneak peak of our fabulous auction! The Labor Day weekend is one last blast of summer, but it's also the opening of Art Studio Views. A very special event this Saturday at Mount Guilian - celebrate the life of James F. Brown, an escaped slave from Maryland who made his way to freedom and full citizenship in the Hudson Valley, featuring gospel singing, performances, and other special events - noon-5:00 p.m..
For artists and arts organizations, it's the beginning of grant season - do you have a project in need of funding? Attend one of our grant workshops and find out how you can make a strong proposal. Our webpage lists workshops and dates in multiple locations across Dutchess, Orange and Ulster counties.
Looking forward - save the date for the opening of " I, Too, Sing Shakespeare," Saturday, September 12 at the Arts Mid-Hudson gallery featuring Judy Sigunick's Shakespeare inspired sculptural pieces.
Best wishes for an art-filled week!
