Greetings Art Lovers:

This week we remember the visionary spirit of John Flowers. For readers who didn't have the pleasure to meet him, John believed in our community and all the goodness that everyone contributed. Several times he hosted Arts Mid-Hudson on his radio show for Queen City arts and community events, allowing emerging performers and artists to share their voice. His memory will live on in the creative future he helped build.

With fall right around the corner, save the date for the 29th Annual Dutchess County Executive's Arts Awards, October 7 at Villa Borghese. Check the webpage for awardees, tickets, and a sneak peak of our fabulous auction!

This Saturday, enjoy the opening of Contextual Threads, a group show including artworks by Mimi Czajka Graminski, Patricia Fabricant, Laura Moriarty and Elisa Pritzker at Wired Gallery, 5-7:00 p.m. in High Falls.

In Millerton on Saturday, hear Diane Love's artist talk about her one person retrospective at The Moviehouse Art Gallery beginning at 5:00 p.m.

It's Newburgh's Last Saturday with many events happening including a closing at Space Create Gallery of FAST.BACK, a photo show and an open mic. Doors open at 5:00 p.m.

Cocoon Theatre's Parlour Soiree this Monday, August 31 is a must-see: "Txalaparta" features an evening of Basque culture and music exploration with audience participation - 7:00 p.m.

For artists and arts organizations, it's the beginning of grant season - do you have a project in need of funding? Attend one of our grant workshops and find out how you can make a strong proposal. Webpage lists workshops and dates in multiple locations across Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties.

Best wishes for an art-filled week!
