Dear Friends,
Bubbles floating in the air, blown by wind and lit by bright sunshine. Surrounded by their beauty you reach out to touch them and one by one they disappear. So you shut your eyes and remember.
Sunday, during the annual worship service led by participants of the women's retreat, we hope to share our thoughts and feelings that like those brightly colored bubbles are precious memories. We realize words alone never capture the essence of any retreat, so we won't try to do that, but when you hear us sing, pray, and see the love we have for one another you will know that in a very real sense we spent the weekend as the church.
Ann Lamott's writings provided the framework for the retreat. Ruth Dombrowski will share some of her words. When asked to be the teacher I found words in the bible to express my experience that weekend. On Sunday I will share them.
The text begins like this: "As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience." Colossians 3:12

Converations in Faith: A Fish Out of Water November 15 & 22 A documentary that explores the impassioned relationship between homosexuality and the Bible. Fish out of Water is a genrebending feature documentary that uses animation and academic interviews to dissect the seven Bible verses used to condemn homosexuality and justify marriage discrimination.
Director Ky Dickens shows, through animated illustrations of the oftquoted Bible passages and revelatory commentary on them by celebrated scholars, that the Bible is misinterpreted and misquoted regarding samesex relationships. Discussions will be led by Charise Meriwether.

We have MORE decorations for sale!!
We will be selling decorated Christmas balls, other ornaments, and Judy Selby's special cloches on Sunday, Nov. 22 both between services and after the 11:00 a.m.service.
Some of you may wish to give an ornament to somebody special. A holiday notation might be included: "A gift especially for you in support of a refugee child." So if you didn't get one of these lovely decorations last Sunday, do bring your cash this coming Sunday. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we are hoping that our gratitude might help bring some Christmas joy to these refugee families. To all of those who made ornaments for sale, many, many thanks. They are all gorgeous!

The Angel Tree is Here
Please consider adopting an Angel from our tree in Keller Hall. Become involved in the life of one child at Westview Elementary who could use your help this Holiday Season. Angels typically ask for school uniforms, books, and toys. A spending guide is $30 - $50. Please drop off gifts unwrapped in closed bags labeled with information from the back of your chosen angel. The children from Circular have created the angels, and the Youth will help you choose one to take home. Donations are due back in Keller Hall by Sunday, December 13th, to be distributed at school.

A Thanksgiving Dinner Invitation
Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to gather with friends and family to give thanks for our many blessings. If your friends and family are not near this Thanksgiving, please consider joining me, my daughter, Elizabeth, and a few friends for a meal at my house on Johns Island. We are planning a traditional turkey and dressing dinner, along with many vegetarian and vegan dishes. We will gather around noon and sit down for dinner around 1 PM.
Please email me at dale.snyder@att.net if you are planning to join us and I will send back driving directions. Also, if you are aware of someone who may be sitting out Thanksgiving this year, please pass along this invitation. Last year we had a wonderful group and we know it will be a great gathering again this year. I hope to see you there!

Community Meal Volunteers Needed
Charleston Table, a project funded by the Circular Mission Fund, is looking for volunteers to help plan and run a series of monthly community meals that will begin in January 2016. These gatherings will aim to cultivate community across economic, racial, political, and religious lines; increase awareness of hunger and poverty in Charleston; and advocate for a more just food system. We need volunteers to help organize programming, plan and prepare meals, set up and break down the meeting space, and lead discussion.
If you are interested in becoming involved, please email Sarah Pinson at sgpinson@gmail.com.

Dear Choir,
You can really bake! We raised about $1200 with maybe a little more still coming in. Congratulations! It was a gorgeous sight.
Also, the choir party at Duane's beautiful home with candles and all the Christmas cheer to get us in the mood is now, Wed. Dec. 9th. It is pot luck and will be an important rehearsal as well as whistle caroling and more. Put our dress rehearsal Dec. 19th at 10:00 in red letters on your calendar. Thank you all for beautiful music Sun., working hard, and baking. Marilyn

News from Matt
Matt Lewellyn, member and former Director of Youth Ministries, is doing well in Boston. He and Chris will be back to worship with us when they visit Charleston in late December.
He has an opportunity to be a part of an immersion study of conflict transformation regarding the Israel/Palestine conflict. In the spring, he will join a group traveling to Israel/Palestine to live with those affected by the conflict and hear their stories. He has started GoFundMe page to seek help with financial obligations. In his words, "... support from Circular would be so great and symbolic in many ways!"
