ILS Members Present at ABA Section of International Law Spring Meeting

On Wednesday, April 13, the Mediation Committee of the ABA SIL presented a panel entitled "The Role of Mediation in Resolving the U.S. Claims Against Cuba." ILS member Ricardo Cata was the chair and moderator of the panel, and ILS member James Meyer sat as a speaker. Nancy Thevenin, Principal of Thevenin Arbitration & ADR in New York, and Antonio Martinez, Of Counsel with Schwartz Malito of New York, also participated as speakers on the panel. The discussion concerned the U.S. certified claims, the Cuban-American claims and the private U.S. court judgments against Cuba, and the best way to resolve them so as to minimize the risk to U.S. entities doing business with Cuba,  by way of either a global grand bargain, or through the use of mediation and other ADR tools. Congratulations on a successful panel!
