ILQ Call for Editors
The International Law Quarterly (ILQ) has positions open for an Articles Editor and a Managing Editor. Please contact Editor-in-Chief Yara Lorenzo at [email protected] with your interest in filling one of these roles.
Call for Mediation Committee Members
The ILS Mediation Committee is currently seeking additional members to contribute in the following ways:
  • Short articles on relevant international mediation topics for the ILS Gazette;
  • Participate in programs and/or presentations by the Mediation Committee at next year's ILAT Conference at the end of February;
  • Participate in presentation of CLE programs by the Mediation Committee on international mediation to law firms and in-house counsel;
  • Short (20 - 30 minutes) presentation on an international mediation topic at the monthly MIAS' meeting;
  • Maybe,  a luncheon CLE presentation on a topic related to international mediation at, say, the Coral Gables Bar Association.

The International Arbitration Institute of the University of Miami School of Law presents a practitioners' course, "How to Persuade a Tribunal: The Fundamentals and Advocacy in International Arbitration," in Coral Gables, Florida, led by Professor Jan Paulsson. Attend "The Fundamentals of Arbitration" September 14-16 and "Arbitration Advocacy Training" on September 17-18. Participants will receive a certificate of completion from the University of Miami School of Law and the International Arbitration Institute. October 30 - November 1, 2015
ILS members interested in enhancing their knowledge and credentials in the field of International Commercial Arbitration are invited to participate in a training and assessment opportunity with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in Miami, Florida in conjunction with JAMS and the American College of Construction Lawyers.

 

An all-star team of faculty (comprising a number of Section members) is confirmed for this event, which is targeted at senior-level practitioners seeking to obtain CIArb's globally recognized "Fellow" standard in the field of International Commercial Arbitration. November 1-3, 2015
The 13th annual ICC Miami Conference on International Arbitration will take place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Brickell Key in Miami, Florida. Under the theme "Tooling up for international arbitration," this conference will address many relevant topics related to the current legal trends in Latin America including arbitration in energy, banking and finance disputes. November 4-6, 2015

The 26th IFFTA (International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates) Worldwide Conference will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The venue will be the Law School of the Universidad de Buenos Aires, at Figueroa Alcorta 2263. The Conference is sponsored by the Tourism Law Observatory of that law school, a member of the WTO. Details are available here (upper right corner of the page).
