ILS Cuba Trip - Your Feedback Needed

The International Law Section of The Florida Bar is planning an exploratory trip to Havana Cuba to meet with local attorneys.  The planned trip would be between May 27-31, 2015.  If you are serious about going, we would appreciate your email response by this Wednesday, March 4th, to Carlos Osorio at cosorio@aballi.com and to Jim Meyer at jmeyer@harpermeyer.com as to the following:

(1)   Whether you prefer to hire a tour operating company to organize the ILS' trip under a general OFAC license for "people to people exchanges" which has an estimated cost of $3,000 per person (as per three quotes so far obtained by the ILS) which is all-inclusive and includes airfare, hotel, all meals, transport, taxes, etc.  The estimated cost is for five days / four nights.  The itinerary would be a full-time agenda set by the tour company (in consultation with the ILS) and would include a variety of cultural activities.

(2)   Whether you prefer to travel for two to three days, also between May 27-31, but without the "full-time" agenda of a tour company.  The ILS itinerary would consist strictly of several meetings with Cuban legal professionals and organizations. The ILS would set the professional meeting agenda but everyone would need to arrange for their own hotel accommodations, flight, cultural activities, and Cuban Government visa based on the ILS' recommendations and guidance.  Under this option, travel to Cuba would also be under a general OFAC license provision, requiring no prior approval by OFAC so long as all U.S. regulations (as recently amended) are respected.  The cost of such a trip would in all likelihood be less than $3,000.

We look forward to your prompt response so we can gauge interest in these options.
