February Events

This coming Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28, 2014 -

Dear ILS members and friends,

Please join us for ILS's annual International Business Transactions Conference ("IBTC") and International Litigation and Arbitration Conference ("ILAC"), which will take place on February 27 and 28 at the JW Marriott Marquis in downtown Miami.  I wanted to encourage you to join us for the conferences, both of which promise to be excellent.

You can register for IBTC by clicking here and ILAC here

We will begin the morning of Thursday, February 27, with an ILS Executive Council meeting, to which all ILS members and guests are welcome.  Thereafter, the IBTC conference will begin with a lunch in the terrific ThreeFortyFive restaurant located in the hotel.  Panels at the IBTC will cover two extremely timely topics - cross-border infrastructure projects and cross-border joint ventures - from a variety of perspectives.  The IBTC will conclude, and the ILAC will commence, with a spirited networking cocktail reception on Thursday evening.

Friday's ILAC conference features a full day of interesting and informative panels, punctuated by networking coffee breaks and a lunch at ThreeFortyFive.  Two of the conference's many highlights will be presentations by our keynote speakers: international law luminary Benjamin Davis of the University of Toledo, who will discuss Confidentiality and Technology: Arbitration and ADR in the Shadow of Big Data Security, and Lorraine Brennan of JAMS, who will speak about The Changing Face of International Dispute Resolution: Lessons from the Past and Predictions for the Future.  As always, the conference will conclude with a sumptuous and lively cocktail reception on Friday evening.

Won't you please consider joining us?  The brochure and registration information for IBTC and ILAC are only a mouse click away.  We look forward to seeing you there!

C. Ryan Reetz

Chair, International Law Section
