November 2, Future of Arbitration: Miami - Networking Cocktail

  

To celebrate the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF) Conference, "Precedents: Benefits, Dangers & Myths" in Miami on November 2nd, the Future of Arbitration: Miami (FA:M) will host a networking cocktail at Blue Martini Lounge.

  

This event aims to exchange ideas about career development and issues of interest on international arbitration in a relaxed environment with a Latin twist.

  

The cocktail will take place on Saturday, November 2, at Blue Martini Lounge in Brickell, from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm (address: 900 South Miami Avenue, #250, Miami, FL 33130) following the YAF conference.

ICC's Annual Miami conference

 International Commercial Arbitration in Latin America

 

3-5 November, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Miami

  

 ICC's annual Miami conference provides an indispensable update on developments in the region and is the most important gathering for the Latin American arbitration community. Not only does it offer a line-up of top-class speakers, topical discussions and relevant news, but also an excellent opportunity to network. The conference attracts approximately 400 participants representing about 30 nationalities.  Sessions this years will cover the following perspectives : Judicial; Academic; Business; "Public"; "Alternative"; Ethical and Procedural.

 

This year the conference will be preceded by an advanced level training on "drafting enforceable awards" will take place on Sunday 3 November. Focusing on what can be referred to as the most prominent duty of an arbitrator, participants will learn the best practices pertaining to drafting awards and the ways of maximizing their enforceability. Accordingly, the training will focus on the procedural as well as formal requirements, and cover the issue of the necessary substantive accuracy of the award.

 

 

Current Issues in International Arbitration in the Americas-A Roundtable

Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 9:15 AM to 11:00 AM, Miami, FL

 

 This roundtable will feature a discussion on the most salient issues affecting the current development of international arbitration in the Americas. A group of experts with vast experience in commercial and investment arbitration in the region will contribute to a fascinating debate and discuss the impact of these issues on the growth of international arbitration.

 This event is hosted by the Global Legal Studies Initiative at Florida International University College of Law, and co-sponsored by the Miami International Arbitration Society (MIAS), Capítulo de la Florida del Club Español de Arbitraje (CEA), the Venezuelan American National Bar Association (VENAMBAR), and the Arbitration Center of the Caracas Chamber of Commerce (CACCC).

The ILS's International Dispute Resolution Roundtable Committee is soliciting program proposals from anyone interested in hosting a Roundtable breakfast or lunch. The Roundtable Committee is organizing several presentations whereby issues related to international disputes will be addressed and teleconference access will be provided.
