November 2, Future of Arbitration: Miami - Networking Cocktail
To celebrate the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum (YAF) Conference, "Precedents: Benefits, Dangers & Myths" in Miami on November 2nd, the Future of Arbitration: Miami (FA:M) will host a networking cocktail at Blue Martini Lounge.
This event aims to exchange ideas about career development and issues of interest on international arbitration in a relaxed environment with a Latin twist.
The cocktail will take place on Saturday, November 2, at Blue Martini Lounge in Brickell, from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm (address: 900 South Miami Avenue, #250, Miami, FL 33130) following the YAF conference.

ICC's Annual Miami conference
International Commercial Arbitration in Latin America
3-5 November, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Miami
ICC's annual Miami conference provides an indispensable update on developments in the region and is the most important gathering for the Latin American arbitration community. Not only does it offer a line-up of top-class speakers, topical discussions and relevant news, but also an excellent opportunity to network. The conference attracts approximately 400 participants representing about 30 nationalities. Sessions this years will cover the following perspectives : Judicial; Academic; Business; "Public"; "Alternative"; Ethical and Procedural.
This year the conference will be preceded by an advanced level training on "drafting enforceable awards" will take place on Sunday 3 November. Focusing on what can be referred to as the most prominent duty of an arbitrator, participants will learn the best practices pertaining to drafting awards and the ways of maximizing their enforceability. Accordingly, the training will focus on the procedural as well as formal requirements, and cover the issue of the necessary substantive accuracy of the award.

Next Steps for China/Asia Law Committee
The China/Asia Law Committee's founder and leader since its inception, Mikki Canton, has decided to complete her service as committee chair. Her successor is Mark Weiner. Like Mikki, Mark has deep ties to China. He took his BA in Chinese History and Language; received a law degree from the East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai; and for 20 years has been assisting non-Chinese companies to do business in China. He is currently assisting the Chinese government on several projects worldwide.
ILS is deeply grateful to Mikki for all of her leadership and hard work on behalf of the committee, and to Mark and committee vice-chairs Ravi Batta and Veronica Tejada Lacayo for their ongoing service.
