BioHealth and Life Sciences Spring Update
Maryland LSAB Recommends Steps to Accelerate Industry Growth
The Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board makes recommendations to accelerate the growth of Maryland's biohealth industry and achieve recognition globally recognized as a Top 3 U.S. BioHealth Innovation Hub by 2023. Developed by the board over 10 months with the input of other industry experts and leaders, the recommendations are focused on four key areas that will help to strengthen Maryland's leadership in biohealth: assets, connectivity, capital and talent:
  • Leverage and grow the state's assets and accelerate the commercialization of research;
  • Increase connectivity among and awareness of the state's biohealth assets and resources;
  • Increase availability and access to capital for Maryland biohealth businesses, from early-stage startups to advanced-stage companies;
  • Grow the state's talent pool of experienced biohealth entrepreneurs, business leaders, graduates and scientists with commercially relevant experience.
