TOP STORY:  MacroGenics Expanding to Support Clinical Advances
Rockville's MacroGenics will raise $130.4 million to expand its manufacturing and product pipeline.  MacroGenics has advanced four of its innovative monoclonal antibody-based therapeutics for the treatment of cancer into the clinic during the last year, with the most recent one, DART molecule MDG011, triggering a $10 million milestone payment from Janssen.

Gaithersburg's Emergent BioSolutions has been awarded a $19.7 Million BARDA contract to develop and manufacture Ebola monoclonal antibodies in its HHS-designated Center for Innovation in Advanced Development and Manufacturing.

Silver Spring's United Therapeutics' revenues continue to grow.  The company granted $9 million to nonprofit organizations providing financial assistance to patients last year. 

Gaithersburg's OpGen, Inc. closes $6 Million financing with Merck GHI to expand infectious disease diagnostic testing abilities. They also recently acquired AdvanDx, Inc.

Rockville's Accelovance, Inc. completes trial enrollment and delivery of clinical data for Heron Therapeutics' Phase 3 trial.

Gaithersburg's Vaxin initiates first-in-man Phase 1 clinical trial for chronically infected Hepatitis B patients and strengthen's its IP portfolio. 

Baltimore's Gemstone Biotherapeutics study shows superior regenerative wound healing response. The Hopkins spin-out recently raised $2.45 million in seed investment.

Gaithersburg's Novavax announces positive top-line data from Phase 1 Ebola vaccine trial.

Bethesda's BrainScope has been awarded an additional $500,000 from the NFL and GE.

Rockville's KeyGene and Floragenex enter into a license agreement SBG technology.

Baltimore's Intralytix, Inc. collaborates with Switzerland's Ferring Pharmaceuticals in novel bacteriophage-based IBD drug development project.

Rockville's Synthetic Biologics announces closing of recent equity offering and exercise in full of underwriters' over-allotment option.

Johns Hopkins team (Kala Pharmaceuticals) develops novel drug delivery system.

University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) receive PCORI Award to create patient-centered training programs.

Headband-shaped device designed by Johns Hopkins grad students could be a promising in-home treatment option to ease Parkinson's symptoms.

NIST has launched a mobile app competition that seeks access, use of scientific data.

BioMaryland is supporting two scholarships for Maryland companies to attend AdvaMed in San Diego in October.  The deadline to apply to AdvaMed for these scholarships is 7/31/15.

TEDCO is requesting applications for Medical Device Executives for its mdPACE Program.
