A Word from our President

As we start October it is starting to feel like Fall, and I hope that you and your students are back in the school mode as we begin the second month of our school year.  I am honored to represent the Fremd Viking Booster Club as President this year. Our Mission is simple:

To enhance Fremd High School student experiences by raising funds and
providing support services for academic, athletic and cultural programs.

In order to fulfill its mission the Boosters need your help. The strength of any organization is its members and the support of its community.  Last year, the Viking Booster Club donated over $103,000 to Fremd High School and its students in support of Fremd administration's "wish" list. This funding supported the needs of the many organizations at Fremd that might otherwise go un-funded within the operating budget of the school.  Just to name a few, last year's list included: equipment for automotive technology, an instrument for the band, equipment for the photo-video and science clubs, cameras for the Viking Logue, training equipment for school gym classes, honorariums for Writers Week, glass weather shelters for soccer teams, and assignment books for all freshmen.  In addition, Boosters provided eighteen $1,000 scholarships to seniors who were eligible because their families were Booster members. Finally, Fremd's post prom event is arguably the most envied post prom event in the area.  More than 700 juniors and seniors attended post prom this past spring at Navy Pier's Crystal Garden.  In one way or another, I am sure that the Viking Booster Club donations impact every student at Fremd.

Membership.  With this school year now in focus, I want to thank the more than 900 families for your annual $25 membership.  I would ask each of you to spread the word about the Viking Booster Club and act as ambassadors to increase our membership.  If each of us could take on the goal of recruiting just one new family to become a member, then the Boosters would have even more resources to support Fremd and its students.

Dinner Dance.  This dance is the largest fundraiser for the Booster Club.  The support of our parents, administrators, teachers, community, and local businesses has made this event a huge success in the past.  We would like that tradition to continue. You can support us in many ways.  Either consider attending the event, making a donation through the registration website, or donate a product, service, or basket of items from your business. All proceeds will benefit our students. So gather family and friends for a memorable night supporting a great cause.....our kids!

Volunteer.  Boosters are a completely parent-volunteer organization and we are always looking for energetic, interested people to help out.  There are numerous volunteer opportunities available on a number of committees, including:  Concessions, Spirit Shop, Post-Prom, Craft Fairs, Dances, etc.  You can volunteer as much or as little as you want.

The success of the Viking Booster Club reflects the combined efforts of all our Fremd families.  With your continued involvement, Fremd will maintain its excellence in academic, cultural and athletic programs.  Thank you for supporting the Fremd Viking Booster Club!  Go Vikings!

Our organization is always looking for volunteers.  We have so many opportunities throughout the year for you to make a difference.  CLICK HERE to download our People Power form.  As little as a couple hours would help out in many areas.  If you have any questions about any of our volunteer opportunities, please email Joanne Wojcik.
