CHS Graduation Rate Remains Highest in SD County for All Unified Districts

Congratulations to Coronado High School for maintaining the highest graduation rate of unified school districts in SD County, at 98.0%.  CHS is proud of its hard work providing interventions and supports to students who struggle academically. All of our student services contribute to success in CHS students meeting local and state graduation requirements and CHS Student Learning Outcomes.

The CHS graduation rate for the class of 2015 and other data was recently released by the California Department of Education. The data represent students who entered ninth grade in the fall of the 2011-12 school year and were scheduled to graduate by the end of the 2014-15 school year. A report from San Diego County Office of Education provides cohort outcome data...

We found a fuzzy caterpillar in the garden.

Crown Preschool Students Learn about Lions & Tigers & Bears...Oh My!

Crown Preschool teachers Miss Lindsey and Miss Brenna developed a new theme for the week around zoo animals. The children were fascinated by the zoo and animals, becoming familiar with the names, needs, and homes of many zoo animals. They learned that elephants, giraffes, monkeys, snakes, lions, zebras, and bears are some of the many animals that live at the zoo.   They also learned that zoo keepers give food and water to the animals and veterinarians are doctors who care for animals.

One day they released ladybugs into Crown Preschool's garden. The children were excited to see the ladybugs go to work on finding the pests who were eating their plants. The children even found a fuzzy caterpillar!

To develop observation skills, parents are encouraged to show their child pictures of zoo animals from books or magazines, and to plan a family trip to the San Diego Zoo or Safari Park. Many opportunities for learning present themselves at the zoo. Children can actually see different kinds of animals and many times, such as at petting zoos, are able to touch and feed them. What a great way to develop an appreciation and respect for animal life!
