Village Students Earn MooTime Party
Hundreds of Donors and Businesses Contribute to CSF Telethon; More Needed to Reach Annual Goal
Donations continue to arrive, yet the Coronado Schools Foundation is still short of their annual goal to raise $200K from the annual Telethon. The 28th annual event was a technical success as it was run almost completely by students from both CHS and CMS. Under the direction of producer/teacher Tony Perri, students from KCMS, CHS CTV, and CoSA Digital Media produced, directed, and taped the show. All took place on the CHS campus in the quad area, in the Black Box Theater, and in the Performing Arts Theater.
"While our Team Tote students from Coronado Middle School proudly displayed a final tally of $182,368, we've now reached $185,695, still climbing towards our $200,000 goal," noted Chris Searles, MD, Chairman of the CSF Board. "With over a hundred of last year's donors yet to step up, I'm confident we'll get there in order to maintain STEAM pathway programs and reduce class sizes by the sections of teachers these donations now fund, K-12."

CUSD School Board Needs Community Assistance with Air Conditioning Issue
A new committee is forming to study the issue of occasional hot classrooms and how to improve those conditions by adding air conditioning or other solutions. The School Board's committee called "CASLE" will analyze the teaching and learning environment in CUSD classrooms, define suitable instructional conditions, and create a long-term, financially viable, and prioritized plan for addressing climate issues. The ultimate objective is providing a safe, comfortable learning environment for students and staff.
Chaired by Trustees Lou Smith and Lee Pontes, CASLE will include community members with varying skills and interests as well as school site representatives. Skilled or well-informed community members, teachers from each school site, and a student representative will be asked to participate in this critical process. It is envisioned that CASLE will meet for at least six to twelve months with a determination to be made later as to the possible need to extend the term of the committee. People interested in serving on this important team, should contact Trustee Lee Pontes at lee.pontes@coronadousd.net.
