New Districtwide Surveys Released on Monday

Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Students Encouraged to Participate in Community Outreach Electronic Survey

All shareholders of the Coronado Unified School District are being asked on Monday to participate in the second annual districtwide digital survey.  This survey has been greatly improved from last year's inaugural offering.  The survey intends to inform all of those associated with the school district as to how people feel about the organization, what is successful, what needs to be improved, and what other services are needed in the future.

Based on feedback from last year's survey results, the Professional Development Committee of staff and administrators have worked hard all year to update the survey and protocols for its implementation.  Reports on the results have been made to the public by Claudia Gallant, Senior Director of Learning & Instruction.

Unique links to the survey will be sent via email to everyone.  These uniquely created links to a personalized survey will be created by a third party vendor called Panorama Education.  Panorama manages the security of the survey to ensure confidentiality and unbiased reporting of the results.  However, if a participant chooses to provide written comments in the box provided at the end of the survey, that person's contact information will be required. Comments and suggestions made in this way will never be made public and will be used for internal use only.

Coronado Schools Foundation Telethon Hits the Mark

Donors Worldwide Give Generously as Annual Telethon Breaks Records
Hundreds of people gathered on the CHS Quad for fun family activities as even more people watched the live Telethon produce record donations for the Coronado schools.  For the fourth year, the Telethon was produced by students under the direction of teachers Amy Steward and Tony Perri.  Their students from Coronado Middle School's KCMS and Coronado High School's CTV/KCHS-TV news teams directed, taped, and edited all pre-taped acts, public service announcements, and live productions during the event.

"Once again our community came through for our kids," noted Patty Cowan, CEO of the Coronado Schools Foundation.  "Families really seemed to enjoy the activities on the Quad and the production was simply flawless."

Details on the event were still being tabulated, so a complete accounting of the event will be published in next week's Coronado Communique.

Popular Community Fun on April 16th

Planning Continues for Ninth Annual Empty Bowls Event in April

CHS ceramics students, invited artists, and ceramics teacher Eric Rempe are busy making 1,000 bowls for the upcoming 2015 Empty Bowls.

For $20 attendees receive a handmade bowl, hot soup, bread, and water.  The bowl is yours to keep as a reminder of hunger in the world.

Currently, 480,000 individuals in San Diego County are classified as food insecure, including more than 160,000 children. These are often hard working adults, children, and seniors who cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, days, or extended periods of time.

Proceeds from Empty Bowls will be donated to The Hunger Project, to Feeding America San Diego, and to Project Sammich.

If you have questions, would like to volunteer, or want to donate money or items for the silent auction please contact Eric Rempe, CHS Ceramics Instructor, at 619.522.8907 x 2304 or via email at eric.rempe@coronadousd.net.
