Credit card debt drops in January ended an 11-month streak of increasing card balances, while consumer spending increased 0.5%, as well as government wages and salaries. "These figures are a good indication  that spending will continue -- credit and otherwise -- in the months to come," predicts CUNA Senior Economist Perc Pineda.
