Credit unions became much more of a factor in the city's retail financial market in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st century. Indiana Members CU, Eli Lilly FCU, FORUM CU and Teachers CU emerged as major institutions.
League Director/INOVA FCU CEO Dallas Bergl comments in this story, "[It] has already proved successful in that more than 2,000 leaders from throughout our region have been working together on transformational projects that will benefit every man, woman and child in our three-county region."
The credit union announced its support for the North Central Region in its efforts to be awarded economic development funds as part of the State of Indiana's Regional Cities Initiative.
Before you put that big-ticket item purchase on your card, think about the consequences. CUNA program manager of blending learning Michelle Dosher advises not to make big purchases on your credit card unless you can pay the full amount back, before interest. Credit unions will soon be seeing regulatory relief as the transportation bill was just signed into law as part of a five-year funding package for the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. Three credit union provisions in the bill will eliminate the requirement for annual privacy notices, allow federally insured credit unions to join the FHLB system and enable the CFPB to assign rural designation for credit union service offerings. "This is the culmination of a great deal of work on these very different issues," explains CUNA chief advocacy officer Ryan Donovan. (Password/subscription required)
