Wall Street Journal - 7/24/14
CUNA's Pat Keefe wrote a letter to the publication noting a different recollection of credit union activity regarding advocacy on housing finance issues than what was published in a recent column by Edward DeMarco. His letter is the second one shown on the page. He comments, "We did not advocate lowering underwriting standards, especially since credit unions never lowered their own before, during or after the financial turndown, which is one of the reasons why credit unions avoided the immediate impact of the downturn."
