 Spring has Sprung!
 
Along with the noticeable change in weather, there have been a few changes at the City of Houston as well! Mayor Turner recently announced a new director of the Department of Neighborhoods, Ms. Takasha Francis and a new City Attorney, Mr. Ronald Lewis.

The Department of Neighborhoods is tasked with protecting our neighborhoods. I look forward to meeting with Ms. Francis to discuss our needs in District J. Ms. Francis, a former practicing civil practice lawyer has an exemplary track record interpreting the law. I look forward to the innovations her expertise will bring to the department.

Also, just announced today, Mayor Turner named Ronald Lewis to head the City's Legal Department.  An accomplished Houston-based attorney in his own right, I also look forward to meeting and working with him.

Big events are on tap for District J too, as shown in this newsletter. As always, let us know how we can best serve you.

Apartment Safety Meeting

Neighborhood Centers Inc., with the Houston Apartment Association and other community partners, will be hosting an informative meeting that will connect tenants to resources regarding safety in your apartment community! The meeting will be Saturday, April 16th from 10am to noon at the Cullen Reunion Hall at 6500 Rookin. Click here for the English and Spanish flyer.
24th Annual Gulfton Festival Volunteers
Volunteers are needed for the 24th Annual Gulfton Festival! The festival will be held on Saturday, April 30th and will start at noon after the parade. Volunteers wil be needed from 8:30am - 3pm.
