Inauguration Day 2016 Monday, January 4th was Inauguration Day for City of Houston elected officials. It was a lovely day of pomp and circumstance with Jones Hall being filled to capacity. It was a great way to formally welcome Mayor Turner and other newly elected officials to City Hall. I look forward to working with the new administration, Controller Brown and my fellow Council Members.

Your District J office will continue working hard to provide the high level of constituent services you have utilized so well. Just a friendly reminder in reporting service needs: first contact 3-1-1 when an issue arises, write down the service request number, and then let our office know about the issue with the designated service number. We can then better track and monitor resolution of the issue and provide you with updates.

Again, I am truly grateful to the constituents of District J, for allowing me to serve you on City Council!
Thank You,
-Council Member Mike Laster, District J

It was a productive start to the new year, as the District J office met with the new executive officers of the Sharpstown Civic Association (SCA) this past week. Joint efforts will include continued work on persistent problem properties in the neighborhood, as well as improved efforts at communication and enforcement of current laws. Thanks to the SCA officers and board members for their service to the community!
