99 Cent Only Store Dumpsters
The 99 Cent Only Store dumpsters at 5800 Bellaire have been a regularly reported eyesore to our office. As you can see from the above "before" photos, there was a huge disregard for maintaining a clean and tidy dumpster area in the back of the building off of Dashwood.
In August, a meeting between Council Member Laster, the property manager, and the Department of Neighborhoods led to an agreement about what practices would be put in place to ensure this area stayed clean. As you can tell from the "after" pictures, the agreement is proving successful. But as always, please let us know if the blight returns!

National Night Out 2015
Come join the Houston Police Department, meet your neighbors, and participate in the 32nd Annual National Night Out! This is an opportunity to get out and speak with your neighbors, as well as discuss crime concerns with HPD officers.

Additional Flood Assistance & Meeting - 10/7/15

Hazard Mitigation Grant Program Meeting

The City of Houston, in partnership with Texas Department of Emergency Management, is applying for FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). As HMGP is a state wide competitive program, new funding is not guaranteed.
The focus of this grant will be on homeowners seeking assistance for Home Elevation Grants or for those who need demolition. For more information, please visit here.
HMGP is a separate grant opportunity from the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Grant Program which was recently submitted to FEMA. At this meeting, an update on the status of the FEMA grant application will also be provided.

Sharpstown Fall Festival - 10/25/15
Summer is over! Connect@6800 Bellaire will be kicking off the start of the fall season with their fall festival at 6856 Bellaire Blvd. on Sunday, October 25th, from 3pm to 6pm. There will be food, games, music, and prizes! Parking will be available at the KIPP Connect parking lot at De Moss St. and Tarnef Drive. Connect@6800 Bellaire is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and revitalizing the immediate area surrounding the KIPP CONNECT school in the Gulfton and Sharpstown area of Houston.
