Chapter 42 Outside 610 Loop
In May 2013, the City of Houston passed changes to Chapter 42 of the Code of Ordinances that pertains to subdivisions, developments, and platting. These changes allow for greater single-family home density outside the 610 loop.
The implementation of this ordinance was delayed to ensure that neighborhoods have adequate time to either: 1) revise deed restrictions, 2) apply for minimum lot sizes, or 3) apply for minimum setbacks.
May 24, 2015 is the date in which these Chapter 42 changes will go into affect. If your neighborhood has not already worked with the City of Houston on updating your neighborhoods deed restrictions, please click here.
