Green Bay Converting Locating Operations, 300 Jobs In Hattiesburg

Officials from Green Bay Converting, converter of sanitary towel and tissue products, announced today the company is expanding its operations into Mississippi with a facility in Hattiesburg. The project represents a corporate investment of $48 million and will create 300 new jobs.

"We are excited about the continued growth of our business and believe Hattiesburg to be the perfect location for our next expansion. We appreciate the efforts and assistance provided by Governor Bryant, as well as the state and local economic development staffs in making this a win-win opportunity," said Green Bay Converting President and CEO Greg Santaga.


Webinar:  Logistics Within The Mississippi National Guard A Great Success


On June 5th the University of Southern Mississippi's Center for Logistics, Trade and Transportation (CLTT) in collaboration with the 184th Sustainment Command will proudly presented the webinar "Logistics within the Mississippi National Guard". The webinar was presented free of charge and had 25 registered participants.

The 184th Sustainment Command, headquartered in Laurel, Mississippi, with a detachment in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is a senior Army logistics unit with a rich history of service to Mississippi and the United States of America.

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Panama Study Abroad Group visited the offices of InfosGroup in the City of Knowledge in Panama. Students from USM studying business, logistics, and human capital development attended the tour.

A soldier at a forward operating base needs the proper form to recommend an award for a fellow soldier. He goes online, opens a form, fills in the blanks and hits "print."

Easy.

Another soldier at a forward operating base needs a part for a weapon trigger assembly. Spare parts are not in storage. He goes online, opens the computer-aided design, or CAD, file for the trigger assembly and hits "print."

Ranking Mississippi's Economy: The Grades Are In

Sometimes it seems like Mississippi just can't get ahead.

 

The Magnolia State received some middle-of-the-road rankings in the recently released 2014 Manufacturing and Logistics Report, which shows how each state ranks among its peers in several areas of the economy regarding manufacturing and logistics.

 

The study - prepared by Ball State University's Center for Business and Economic Research - was done at the request of Conexus Indiana, a research company dedicated to promoting manufacturing and logistics in Indiana.
