September is here and we hope everyone had a great summer! Another school year begins for many and here at Mychal's we welcome new and returning students and their families. Here's what's coming up:

~ The M.I.L.E. program resumes on September 19th and runs through June 11th, 2016.

~Mychal's Saturday Enrichment classes will begin September 19th through November 21st, 2015.

***Please note that our Pin-Pins Bowling League is on hiatus at this time due to construction at El Dorado Lanes. We will keep you updated!!!

Ralph's Community Contribution--REMINDER! All previous participants and those newly interested in the Ralphs Community Contribution Program, are required to register or re-register for the new term at www.ralphs.com starting September 1, 2015. Andrew Gambino of Healthy Giving, a donation based fitness boot camp that promotes physical fitness and healthy well-being, while helping families in need; came to Mychal's to provide a training workout for our students --- looks like their working up a sweat!

Culver City Stairs

The Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook State Park is located just southwest of downtown Los Angeles. To locals, the site is more commonly known as the

Culver City Stairs. Mychal's Culver City students got to venture onto this outdoor staircase which leads up to a view of greater Los Angeles.

Mychal's Kitty Perch

Mychal's announces a product that will not only pamper your cat by providing stimulation and exercise, it helps to create jobs for young adults with disabilities. Mychal's students construct and assemble the pieces for our Kitty Perch and your purchase supports our youth and young adults in taking a productive role in society. Volunteer Spotlight

Elena Campos is a volunteer at Mychal's Learning Place. She is 16 years old and attends Da Vinci Science High School.

She learned of Mychal's when her brother Andy Campos began attending the program in 2008. She has been a volunteer for seven years and wishes to continue for many more.

Her favorite memory at Mychal's is when the after school program visited the Aquarium of the Pacific. It was there she witnessed firsthand, all of the students excited reactions to the different sharks and fish at the aquarium!
When Elena is not at Mychal's, she enjoys the beach with friends, taking ballet classes, and reading fictional books. She not only loves to stay active, but she also unwinds and likes to draw in her free time. Her favorite musical artist is Benjamin Francis Leftwhich. In the future, she hopes to travel to Eastern Europe. She wishes to visit Poland and Germany to view their art and experience its historic culture. When Elena attends college she would like to major in Clinical Studies so that she can pursue her goal of becoming a nurse.

Saturday Enrichment Classes

Disneyland Trip Update

On August 13th, Mychal's students got to enjoy a day at Disneyland as it recently celebrated its 60th year anniversary. It was a day of fun for all, thanks to everyone who helped make this day possible for our students, friends, and families!

All proceeds go to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

Team Challenge is an endurance training and fundraising program to help in the fight against Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
