Our strategic initiatives include genome mapping, construction of a greenhouse at Meadowview, support for our science staff, as well as a new web site to align our communications efforts with our cutting-edge science. West Virginia Demonstration Orchard Engages Students in Educational Opportunities through Local High School
By West Virginia Chapter President Robert Sypolt
In the spring of 2013, the West Virginia chapter established an American chestnut demonstration orchard near Preston High School in Kingwood, West Virginia. Initially, the school's only involvement consisted of high school students planting more than 80 chestnuts of varying generations and breeds. But now the orchard has become a part of the curriculum for all Preston County schools' Biology classes.
