The Louisville Restoration Branch completed their second chestnut tree planting within the Louisville Metro Parks system. Three Restoration Chestnut 1.0 trees were planted in Des Pres Park earlier this month. The success of the first planting, in December of 2012, took root at the entrance of the Louisville Nature Center in Joe Creason Park, drove the conception of the Des Pres Park planting. These trees have already produced B3F4 nuts, the first for Kentucky. Read the full story here

 Maine Team Efforts Recognized in Local Press
UMaine Today recently explored the successful collaboration between the University of Maine and the Maine chapter of TACF. Maine chapter member Glen Rea approached UMaine in 2005, asking for land to plant, grow, and pollinate the hybrids in a breeding orchard to introduce genes from the state's native trees. The Maine chapter of TACF doesn't own any land, and with all of its money going to the breeding effort, these types of partnerships are critical to the restoration effort's success. Read the full story here.
