This week we celebrate the humble cranberry, just in time for Thanksgiving.

A few more Thanksgiving notes and reminders:

It's not too late to order your fresh Campanelli turkey for pick up beginning on Monday.  Only the larger sizes are available at this point (over 17 lbs) - but everyone loves leftovers anyway!  Call the store directly to place your order at 845-292-3838.

Pies are still available, too - we may have a few extra pies next week, but please call and place an order to ensure you get exactly what you want no later than 4:00 Wednesday.

For any last minute holiday needs the Market will be OPEN from 9:00 until 1:00 on Thanksgiving Day.

It's hard to believe that in less than a week Thanksgiving will be here.  Which means that by next Friday many of us will be figuring out ways to use up all that leftover turkey.

CRANBERRY SAUCE
What other recipe could possibly be in this space this week?  Our Grown Right Organic cranberry sauce is delicious (pictured above), but if you'd like to take a crack at making your own it couldn't be easier.

Basic cranberry sauce contains just water, sugar and berries  - although you can always dress it up with spices or nuts.  This recipe from Simply Recipes is as straightforward as they come.

Cranberries are loaded with antioxidants that improve cardiovascular health and help prevent cancer.  They've also go vitamin C, iron and fiber.

So this Thanksgiving, eat up!

GROWING CRANBERRIES

A word of advice for anyone thinking of trying to grow cranberries - don't.

Cranberries require a combination of very specific conditions to thrive - an April to November growing season, acid soil and an abundance of fresh water, just to name a few.
